Fall Colors Report
The diversity of climate and vegetation in this vast and varied county has created certain fall "must-see" areas. The beautiful and scenic vistas are rich in color! Scott Valley is a perfect area in which to begin your fall colors tour. Take the Gazelle/Callahan Road, off Freeway I-5 north of Weed, over the ridge and into Scott Valley. In October and November the valley is a study in golds, oranges and rich browns. Continue from Callahan north to Etna, Fort Jones and over Forest Mountain to Yreka. A side trip to Quartz Valley and the town of Mugginsville will be well worth an extra hour. Continue from Yreka north to the Klamath River Highway and follow California Highway 96 along this beautiful waterway.

Combine beautiful fall scenery with wildlife viewing at the Klamath Basin National Wildlife Refuges with Tule Lake, Upper Klamath, and Klamath Marsh Refuges near Tulelake in Eastern Siskiyou County. For a special adventure, reserve a photography blind for your visit! Wildlife photography opportunities at the Klamath Basin National Wildlife Refuge Complex are excellent. To enhance these opportunities, eight photography blinds have been made available, five on Tule Lake Refuge and three on Lower Klamath
Refuge. These are available for use during daylight hours and by reservation only.
